No. 10 Auburn University’s Tigers, dominated No. 2 University of Georgia’s Bulldogs in a victory that sees them closer to the playoffs in the NFL. The final score was 40-17.

The highlights of the game on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, saw Auburn star Kerryon Johnson run for 167 yards and caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from Jarrett Stidham to aid them past Georgia’s running game.

Auburn started the game strong as they held Georgia’s Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and the SEC’s top ground game to 46 yards, which is 233 below their season average.

Johnson caught two passes for 66 yards, running 32 times in the process. Stidham threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns, all of which were 30-plus yards.

Georgia’s mistakes cost them three Auburn touchdowns. One of their early errors was a roughing penalty in the first half. The Bulldogs threw away a punt return and had a 15-yard personal foul penalty in the third quarter when Auburn punished with two touchdowns.

Ryan Davis returned a punt 26 yards into Georgia’s territory, bringing the Tigers closer to the goal line. Then Davis took a pass from 32 yards out for a touchdown to make it 30-7.

Teams’ Standing

The Tigers, 8-2 and 6-1, are still fighting in Western Division and potentially playoff contention after breaking a three-year losing streak against one of their top rivals.

The Bulldogs, 9-1 and 6-1, entered this game with the top spot in playoff rankings and could get revenge if the Tigers can repeat tonight’s feat and beat No. 1 Alabama in two weeks.
