4.6M Earthquake in California

On Dec. 9, 2017, at 23:59 UTC, a magnitude-4.6 earthquake was felt in northern San Bernardino and Lake Arrowhead, California.

People reported feeling a strong jolt and rattling for approximately 15 seconds. Houses shook, windows rattled, and ceiling fans swung, however, no one has noted any damage.

At 00:33 another quake struck with a 4.0M northeast of Julian, California. The exact location was 33.148ºN 116.479ºW. The epicenter of the trembler was 11.1 km deep.

People as far away as Kanab, Utah, 627 km away, reported feeling moderate to light shaking.

There are no reported injuries or damages from the two earthquakes. It is uncertain if there will be any after shocks. It is best to be prepared. Sometimes smaller earthquakes can indicate a larger one is churning.
