Films and television shows have been around to entertain the masses since as early as the 1920s. However, big companies and film studios have been the main and, sometimes, the only source for entertainment.

During the last couple of years, content from small companies and individuals has grown to match the attention of these corporations, but there is no doubt that these big-budget studio movies are still the most popular. The big names like Disney and Universal are still ruling the box office. The biggest change is the barrier to entry for popular films. There will be more than just three major film studios known to be at the top in the next couple of years.

Easier Entertainment Production

Gone are the days where a producer needed to convince a huge studio to fund an idea. It is becoming easier than ever to create content on par with industry professionals. Film director Steven Soderbergh created his 2019 movie “High Flying Bird” just with his iPhone 8.

Many films are migrating from using actual film stock to digital for cinematography. So anyone can pretty much pick up a camera and shoot their masterpiece, which is a good start. Distributing a film is also becoming less gated and more accessible. With the advent of streaming, more small studios are getting their films online faster than some movies released in theaters.

EntertainmentWhat is happening more frequently is producers are getting their films out there with less hassle, especially as more big studios choose their streaming service over movie theaters. That leaves more space for other films that would not have been chosen to get some shine. This may lead to a revival in theaters and a boost to independent filmmaking to extend this prediction.

The demand for films left unfilled by Disney or WarnerMedia can be filled by these other movies that also need an outlet to showcase their productions. Many people believe this because films churned out by the studios today have become lazy and leave a lot to desire by audiences.

In many circles and reviews, the common sentiment is resentment toward sequel after rehash after remake of the same property. This leaves an opportunity for up-and-coming film groups to come out with original ideas and overtake the current leaders in entertainment. Time will tell whether any of this becomes a reality in entertainment. Hopefully, more young producers will be in the mix somehow in a year or two.
